According to one version of mythology, the goddess Athena was born in the place where this waterfall is located in the prefecture of Ilia. And of course, it owes its name to the river that is located there.

The river Triton was, according to mythology (according to one version), the birthplace of the goddess Athena, the so-called Tritagenia (the one born in the river Triton or according to Herodotus in Lake Tritonida). However, the position of the mythological Triton is claimed by other regions besides Ilia, such as Boeotia, Arcadia or Libya. Triton rises from the Minthi mountain and flows into Alfeios.

This natural attraction is a real gem for the area and surely anyone lucky enough to visit it will be impressed. The Tritonas waterfall is located very close to the Andritsaina - Krestena road. If you see a sign for the Sepetou Monastery, you know you are close by as it is across the road.

Opposite the entrance to the monastery is a dirt road. If you find the door closed there, do not hesitate to ask permission from the nuns, who will open it for you, so that you can even drive through by car and find yourself in this earthly paradise called Triton Falls.

The point may seem a little inaccessible to you, but where else would a goddess like Athena be born? What is certain is that the views you will see will reward you and fill you with beautiful emotions. Do not forget to bring a camera with plenty of space for photos.
