The unique landscapes that one encounters in Zagorochoria, the strong experiences in nature, the images with the characteristic local architecture and the local traditional tastes are experiences that will surely be forever engraved in the memory of the one who visits them.
The village-jewel of the area is considered one of the most beautiful, picturesque and traditional places you will come across.
It is called Dilofo, built on the slopes of Tymfi and at a distance of 30 km from Ioannina, which has been declared a traditional settlement and is an example of outstanding Zagorian architecture. Its atmospheric surroundings consist of well-preserved stone houses and magnificent mansions, narrow cobblestone streets, stone fountains and a fabulous main square.
The reference point of the village, located at an altitude of 860 meters, is the huge plane tree in the square, which is four centuries old and a natural monument, as well as the Makropoulos mansion, the tallest house in all of Zagori, with a height of 13.5 meters.
Until 1920, the settlement was called Sopetseli, a name that means "place with many waters" in Slavic and Vlach. The name Dilofo reflects the actual location of the village, which is built on two hills.
