This small beach of Ano Koufonisi is as white as “milk”

It is named Gala (the greek word for “milk”), because of a geological phenomenon of unique beauty.

The small shingle beach -armoured with white pebbles- creates an impressive landscape with the rock that “embraces” it and the open cave which communicates with the sea through a narrow channel.

The reason for visiting the beach Gala in Ano Koufonisi? It is simply one of the most beautiful beaches in the Aegean from a geological perspective. It got its name due to the calcium found in the pebbles, which tinges the water with white. The locals, however, used to call it “Tripiti”.

Gala is a very small and hidden beach, which is truly difficult to find. However, whoever does, is simply impressed.
