"Exodus 1826” A film that shows the events of the exit of the besieged Greeks of Messolonghi

The film "Exodus 1826" is an independent production and is about the story of 120 men from Samarina, Grevena and the surrounding villages who rushed to the aid of the exodus from Messolonghi in April 1826.

The film is based on folk song "Children of Samarina", on verified historical data and on fiction. The direction and screenplay are by Vassilis Tsikaras, the photography by Dimitris Stampolis, the music composition by Kanaris Keramaris, while 2 traditional songs were adapted by Panos Kosmidis. The main roles are Dimitris Papadopoulos, Leonidas Kakouris, Maria Androutsou.

The film was characterized as a "high quality" film by the Ministry of Education and selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its global screening program for the Greek community on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution. The film was selected for the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution. It will launch in the fall of 2018 at the place where the secret organization of the Greek Revolution, "Filiki Etaireia", was created in Odessa.

A few words about the film

The captain Michos Floros returns to Samarina to take more men and lead them to Messolonghi to complete the existing body. Thus, with the help of his personal friend Elias Manakas and 25 other men, they embark on a long journey to meet Zisis Hatzimatis and the rest of their countrymen in Messolonghi. On March 31, 1826, they begin their arduous journey through the mountains. At the same time, the women in the village try to find out from Eleni Florou the real reason for the sudden departure of their men.
