Although regular research to explore it began much later, in the 1960s. By the time the cave was discovered, a myth of a dragon kept the public away from the area, with mothers preventing their children from playing near it, as a terrible dragon was guarding the treasure kept inside the cave.

According to the research of the Hellenic Speleological Society, of course no dragon was ever found, even though the bones of a cave bear that lived in it thousands of years ago were found.

During the 300 meters long walking tour through the cave visitors are met with wonderful stalactites and stalagmites. The cave in total consists of 10 halls, 7 underground lakes and 5 passageways.
