The Republican Party Targets 12 Greek Organizations and Institutions, Accusing Them of Acting Against American and Greek Interests
A report by the Mediterranean Branch of the U.S. Republican Party lists Greek institutions, business associations, and foundations that, according to the report, are promoting the WOKE* agenda in Greece. It claims that the U.S. Embassy in Athens is closely collaborating with and decisively funding these entities, aligned with the Greek government, something the report argues “must stop immediately.” The report also criticizes Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for allegedly yielding to pressure from the U.S. State Department (under Secretary Antony Blinken) to pass legislation allowing same-sex marriage. The report, prepared by regional officials, has reportedly been sent to the party’s headquarters to be reviewed by relevant government authorities.
Purpose of the Report
According to the report, which is in the possession of economico, its purpose is “to depict the reality in Greece (regarding the WOKE agenda) and to prove that funding from American resources for all the institutions listed should immediately cease. Additionally, entities operating as 'branches' of the U.S. government should be abolished, as they pose a direct threat to U.S. interests.”
The report also states that the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) “should thoroughly investigate the involvement of U.S. officials in creating, maintaining, and funding organizations, associations, and foundations in Greece that are inherently hostile to U.S. policies and interests. It should also provide an assessment of the damages caused by information leaks at all levels.”
Focus on DEI and ESG
The report specifically examines the close cooperation between the U.S. Embassy in Athens and various organizations that – in alignment with the Greek government – actively promote DEI** (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and ESG*** (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, as well as broader WOKE initiatives at both state and corporate levels in Greece. Some entities are even accused of promoting agendas favoring the Muslim Brotherhood or cooperating with Chinese interests.

Details on the 12 Organizations
American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce: Although not seemingly WOKE at first glance, the report claims it actively promotes DEI and ESG principles within Greek companies, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Athens, particularly under Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt. It questions whether the Chamber receives “dirty money” from USAID, which is allegedly being dismantled by Elon Musk.
Fulbright Greece: Accused of collaborating with the U.S. Embassy in Athens to promote WOKE initiatives by offering scholarships for "Master’s in Wokeism" and bringing Fulbright alumni to Greece to teach Wokeism in schools and universities.
Onassis Foundation (Onassis Stegi): Accused of promoting modern art, supporting refugee-related initiatives, environmental issues, and LGBTQ+ rights. It allegedly influences school curricula with transgender ideology.
Institute of International Relations (IDIS): Linked to the ultra-liberal Panteion University, it is accused of promoting Chinese soft power through its "IDIS China Program" and signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Centre in Great Britain.
Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP): Described as an NGO promoting globalization, allegedly funded by George Soros and the Rockefeller Foundation. It is accused of influencing Greek foreign policy, notably behind the Prespa Agreement with North Macedonia.
American College of Greece (Pierce – Athens): Labeled as a liberal institution where students are often hired as interns at the U.S. Embassy in Athens, allegedly funded by USAID to promote Wokeism.
Stavros Niarchos Foundation: Accused of hosting U.S. Embassy events and promoting WOKE initiatives, as well as Chinese interests.
Delphi Economic Forum: Described as a replica of the World Economic Forum, promoting globalization and the liberal agenda, with close interactions with other organizations listed in the report.
Dianeosis: Accused of manipulating public opinion through liberal polling to justify the WOKE agenda.
Bodossaki Foundation: Allegedly funds WOKE initiatives and maintains close cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Athens.
Laskaridis Foundation: Accused of promoting Chinese influence in Greece. Its founder, a shipping magnate, is claimed to have close ties with Chinese shipyards and to have introduced Confucius Institutes to Greece.
Solidarity Now: Linked to George Soros and accused of facilitating refugee inflows into Greece.
Significance of the Report
The report’s significance lies not in its accusations or possible exaggerations but in the recommendations from regional Republican officials targeting Greek organizations and institutions deemed to pose a direct threat to U.S. interests. These perspectives reflect the new geopolitical strategy the Trump administration seeks to impose in the West, particularly in Europe and allied countries dependent on Washington.
Political Context
The report reflects the growing Republican opposition to WOKE agendas, DEI, and ESG policies. Both DEI and ESG are being rapidly dismantled in the U.S., whereas they remain policy priorities for the European Commission. The report suggests that the U.S. will likely push back against these agendas in Greece, indicating potential changes under the new U.S. Ambassador to Athens, Kimberly Guilfoyle.
(*) WOKE: Originating as a social justice term against racial discrimination in the U.S., "Woke" has evolved politically. For Democrats, it symbolizes political consciousness, while for Republicans, particularly under Trump, it represents leftist beliefs obstructing U.S. progress.
(**) DEI: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion focus on recognizing differences, ensuring equal opportunities, and fostering respectful work environments.
(***) ESG: Environmental, Social, and Governance policies emphasize sustainability, social responsibility, and modern governance, prioritized by the EU but criticized as costly and anti-growth by the current U.S. administration.
