A journey into history: The birthplace of Kolokotronis in Limbovisi

At an altitude of 1200 m., above the gorges of Mainalo stands, the glorious Limbovisi. A village with only 5 houses and all abandoned. But it is a village with a glorious history, a place that gave birth to heroes. Theodoros Kolokotronis, one of the most important leaders of the Greek revolution of 1821 against the Turks, was born there.

It is no coincidence that everyone who arrives in Limbovisi, Arcadia, immediately feels great awe and travels through time and history, through the memories of the place. And most of them are in the house of the Kolokotronis family.

The house of Kolokotronis has been reconstructed and is full of heirlooms, as it functions as a museum of the family and the struggle of the Greeks in 1821. The restored building is built next to the old paternal house of Theodoros Kolokotronis and is a copy of a traditional Kolokotronis house. The surrounding area has been beautified while the church of Ai - Giannis has been restored, which was a spiritual refuge of the "Old Man of Moria". In the village square, there are springs.

Limbovisi is 30 km away from Tripoli.
