The island's giant Kouros, the famous spectacular sculptures of Naxos, meet scattered in three different locations and inspire awe and admiration in anyone who sees them.

The largest of them all is located near Apollo, is 10 meters long and dates back to the 6th and later centuries. It is located at the entrance of the ancient quarry of the area, near the entrance of the village. Many believe it to be a personification of the god Dionysus or the god Apollo. The other two are located in the areas of Melanes and Flerio.

There are two possible reasons why this project was never completed. According to history, great cracks were observed during its construction and so the work remained in the same place.

For their part, researchers claim that either the client who commissioned its creation passed away or an important political event of the time did not allow for its completion.

These huge creations date back to the archaic period -7th to 6th century-, while their creation is connected with the conception of the people of that time about the gods, who are anthropomorphic, but much larger and taller than ordinary mortals.
