Evritos: Impressive graffiti with the heroes of the Greek revolution of 1821 in Athens (pictures)

With an artistic intervention and in view of the 200th-anniversary celebrations since the Greek Revolution of 1821, the Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupolis wanted to celebrate the national anniversary and commissioned the young artist Evrytos to "cover" the walls of the municipal swimming pool with graffiti. The artist created the portraits of 12 heroes of the revolution in just one week.

Now, Theodoros Kolokotronis, Patriarch Grigorios V, Laskarina Bouboulina, Grigorios Dikaios Papaflessas, Markos Mpotsaris, Konstantinos Kanaris, Nikitaras, Manto Mavrogenous, Georgios Karaiskakis, Athanasios Diakos, Palaion Patron Germanos, the first governor of the modern Greek state, Ioannis Kapodistrias, but also our national poet Dionysios Solomos, adorn Argyroupoli.

"Today, the municipality Elliniko-Argyroupolis honors with its events the heroes of 1821. Those who taught us that to achieve freedom, struggle, blood and faith in God are required," said Mayor Giannis Konstantatos, adding, "On central walls of the city, we will display our heroes so that the elders can remember and the younger ones can be taught. Long live 1821, long live free Greece ".

Combining his love for history and art, artist Evrytos used more than 500 spray bottles to complete his work and more than 80 hours of work.

"The most important thing for me in all the expression of people's love, not so much to my face, but more to the heroes I portrayed," he said. "The most moving thing was the children who came up to me while I was painting the heroes and wanted to have their picture taken next to them," Evrytos said, adding, "That was especially moving for me because I would love to be inspired, just like I was inspired by Greek History when I was that age".
