Walk around Ano Poli and you will discover rare treasures of a unique cultural heritage and a neighborhood that seems to have sprung from a Greek movie set.

The Isminis Street is located inside and beside the walls, on the side that Ano Poli borders with Sykies.

In this unique way, images, nostalgia and memories are evoked.

The view of the city and the walls compensates the visitor, who is invited to sit in the curved alley and enjoy the natural scenery "built" in this place, reminiscent of an old Greek movie.

The refugee houses have been there for decades! Most are left abandoned, but the pots of flowers on the balconies hold up and "whisper" to us that there was once life here. Some, but only a few, have been used, evoking images of a Greek island.

Everything, however, remains undeniable testimony to history... Once, during the Ottoman period, the richest Turks lived here, because of the climate and the view.

Then, with the population exchange in 1923, urban refugee families from Central Asia settled here.

On this site is the building that houses the Melathron of Pontian Hellenism, the Panhellenic Federation of Pontian Associations.

Don't miss the opportunity to discover this side of Thessaloniki. Enjoy your walk on the picturesque Ismini Street, listen to its history and mentally travel to another time!
