Work on a 5-star hotel at Sarakiniko Beach has come to a standstill, but the environmental damage left behind is undeniable. The pressing question now is: how can it be fixed?
Despite construction being "frozen" following ProtoThema.gr's exposé on the controversial project in Milos, significant damage had already been done.
As revealed in newly captured videos and photos, a massive excavation site—originally intended for the hotel's foundation—remains just steps away from the world-famous Sarakiniko Beach.
Now, authorities face mounting pressure to address the destruction and restore the area to its pristine state, especially given its recognition as the seventh most beautiful place on the planet by Condé Nast Traveller.
The Developers Behind the Project
According to ProtoThema.gr, the development was spearheaded by Unique Developments ATEE, a company owned by a Kefalonian business family led by South African-born hotelier Dionysis Koumoudos. Their plans included constructing a two-story hotel with a basement and swimming pools in the "Kaminia" area of Milos.
With work now halted, the focus shifts to reversing the environmental harm—before it's too late.
