Within just one week, the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, made four incendiary statements regarding the Tempi train disaster, sparking reactions from victims’ families, political opponents, and even allies.
"React with Rage"
"I want to tell every New Democracy supporter watching me with complete honesty—there has been no cover-up. And wherever you are, if someone tells you, ‘The Mitsotakis government covered it up,’ you must react with rage."
With this statement, Georgiadis concluded his interview on MEGA Weekend, urging New Democracy members to forcefully counter any accusations of a cover-up.
Just hours earlier, he had attempted to lump together all those protesting in the streets, suggesting that anyone participating in demonstrations aligns themselves with Zoe Konstantopoulou. His remark was met with disapproval, even from the government spokesperson.
Warning of Chaos if Mitsotakis Falls
During the same interview, the Health Minister warned that if Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government were to fall, chaos would ensue. He indirectly attempted to instill fear, suggesting instability if the opposition were to take power.
Additionally, he argued that society is not always right, citing the protests of the "Indignant Citizens" movement as an example.
The lingering question remains: Is the best response to extreme claims or offensive online rhetoric really provocative statements like those made by the Health Minister?
