A fire has been burning since the morning in the forested area of Mount Falakro, specifically in Kato Nevrokopi.
According to a Fire Department official, the fire appears to have started after a storm hit a remote and hard-to-reach area yesterday.
It is noted that "the location where the fire broke out is so high that the firefighting forces have not yet reached it," although "four helicopters are already making drops."
Nine firefighting vehicles with 32 firefighters, including two teams of foot soldiers from the 7th Special Disaster Response Unit (EMODE), are heading towards the blaze. The fire does not pose a threat to residential areas.
