The inventories which are made in Greece at certain intervals give us interesting information about the population and economy of the country.
For example, about the percentage of population in the different regions and cities of Greece. So, in which city of Greece are women much more than men in relation to the rest of the population? The answer is: in Thessaloniki.
So, women in Thessaloniki outnumber men by far. To be more precise, according to the last census and the latest data, 176,712 women live in the municipality of Thessaloniki, compared to 148,470 men. A difference that amounts to almost 30,000 thousand. That's a big difference considering that Athens, with a population twice that of Thessaloniki, has 33,000 more women than men. In fact, some cities in Greece have only 2,000 or even 1,000 more women.
In Thessaloniki, of course, it seems that the female gender is finally taking over. However, it is not the only city in Greece that holds such a record. For example, there is a Greek city that is called the city of coffee because it has the most cafes in relation to its population. This is Larissa.
Now why Thessaloniki, for example, has more women, we cannot know what the reason is and whether there is a logical explanation.
