Demeter didn't know that Zeus had made that agreement with Hades and Persephone wanted to leave but she couldn't because she ate the pomegranate. So Zeus talked to Hades and came to the agreement of sharing her. 6 months with him and 6 months in earth with her mother.

Persephone was the Goddess of the underworld. Her mother Demeter loved her very much. She was beautiful and nice so anyone would fall in love with her.
