Humongous wave appears to bear face of Greek sea god Poseidon
Thought people doing the wave was impressive? Well, this wave does the people.
A photographer in France was awestruck after witnessing a massive wave that appeared to display the visage of the Greek sea god Poseidon, the mighty brother of Zeus, while crashing against the rocks.
“I saw the incredible image of Poseidon with his crown, coming out of the ocean with his face in the wave,” said Mathieu Rivrin of the oceanic impersonation.
He captured the image near his home in Lesconil, Brittany, as the coast was getting battered by rollers generated during Storm Justine, the Daily Mail reported.
Indeed, the incredible photos show a breaking swell sporting a face with a crown as if Poseidon’s likeness was digitally imposed onto it for a “Percy Jackson” adventure flick.
And while the wave itself was only around 30 feet tall, the spray shot up to over five times that height when it hit the rocks.
Rivrin ultimately hopes that his photo helped showcase the majesty of the sea.
“I seek to show all the beauty, elegance and life that a wave can offer you,” Rivrin said.
