Over 7,700 Earthquakes in Santorini-Amorgos: Landslide Risk Increases – CCTV Footage Captures Quake

The residents of Santorini and Amorgos remain on edge as seismic activity in the area continues.

The municipality of Thira has been declared in a state of emergency by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection due to the intense seismic activity. Last night, the strongest tremor in recent days, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, shook the Cyclades.

Today, three earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 or higher on the Richter scale have been recorded since 4:00 PM. Additionally, a 4.5-magnitude quake struck just before 10:00 AM, with its epicenter in the sea south-southwest of Amorgos. Earlier in the same area, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake had occurred at 7:51 AM.

Since 1:00 AM, a total of 19 tremors above magnitude 4.0 have been recorded, all strongly felt by residents.
