Fatal Three-Car Collision in Athens Claims Three Lives

A tragic multi-vehicle accident on Katechaki Avenue in Athens resulted in three fatalities on Monday afternoon (March 3).

According to initial reports from public broadcaster ERT, the crash occurred at the intersection of Katechaki Avenue and Pindou Street in Goudi. An elderly driver lost control of their vehicle, striking a taxi, which then collided with another car in front.

Emergency responders recovered two unresponsive elderly passengers from a white Toyota, and both were pronounced dead at the scene. A third individual, critically injured, was rescued but later succumbed to their injuries.

Two passengers from the taxi sustained injuries but remained conscious and were transported to Athens General State Hospital for medical evaluation. A passenger from the third vehicle was also hospitalized for treatment.

Police and EKAB paramedics responded swiftly, assisting in rescue efforts, managing the investigation, and regulating traffic, as the accident led to significant congestion in the area. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
