Despite the massive fire that started in Varnavas, burned through Penteli, and reached just a few dozen kilometers from the administrative center of the country, the Prime Minister prioritized his religious obligations—he is well known for his devout faith—and his vacations in his hometown. Even today, after the August 15th holiday, and even this coming weekend, Mr. Mitsotakis will not visit Penteli. After all, the people's summer vacations cannot be postponed or interrupted.

Nor did he deliver any of the addresses he used to give during the early years of his tenure as Prime Minister. Who knows? Maybe the Auto Queue broke down, and he’s waiting for Greenberg to fix it.

Thus, the Prime Minister will visit Penteli on Tuesday, August 20th, in the afternoon—so as not to be scorched by the sun—accompanied by a delegation of relevant ministers. A meeting will be held there with the participation of the Attica Region and local mayors.

The meeting will focus on the findings from the inspections and the restoration actions planned by the state in the areas affected by the fire.

The delegation will include:

• Minister of Environment and Energy

• Minister of Interior

• Minister of Civil Protection - Deputy Minister of State Aid

• Minister of Finance - Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF)

• Attica Region officials

• Mayors of Penteli, Chalandri, Pallini, Vrilissia, and other affected municipalities.
