Trump Slams Kamala Harris for Flip-Flopping on Key Issues in Exclusive Interview

PALM BEACH, Florida — In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News at his Mar-a-Lago resort, former President Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, strongly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her inconsistency on major policy positions, including energy, immigration, and law enforcement. Trump argued that Harris’s recent shifts in stance—often communicated through press aides rather than directly—undermine her credibility and could backfire in the long run.

“I don’t think that’s going to fly,” Trump said. “She can’t even hold a press conference.”

The former president’s remarks came after a series of recent statements from Harris’s team, sometimes issued anonymously, signaling changes in her long-held positions on controversial topics such as fracking, healthcare, and immigration. Trump pointed out that Harris has yet to publicly clarify or explain these changes, leaving voters to rely on secondhand accounts from her aides.

One of the most significant shifts involved Harris’s stance on fracking. During her 2020 presidential campaign, she was a vocal advocate for banning the practice. However, a recent statement from an unnamed campaign aide to The Hill indicated that she no longer supports such a ban. This abrupt shift, without any direct communication from Harris herself, has raised eyebrows and led to her being labeled as a “Kama Kameleon” by the New York Post.

Trump seized on this apparent inconsistency, calling Harris’s energy policies “extreme” and claiming they would severely damage the U.S. economy. Drawing a comparison to Germany’s brief experiment with wind energy under former Chancellor Angela Merkel, Trump argued that Harris’s vision for American energy would be both costly and ineffective.

“She wants everything to be run by the wind,” Trump said. “It’s crazy. She will destroy our country. Look at Germany—they tried it, and now they’re going back to coal. They know it doesn’t work, yet she’s pushing the same failed policies here.”

Trump also took aim at Harris’s record on immigration and crime, accusing her of supporting “open borders” and “defunding the police.” He argued that her recent attempts to moderate these positions are disingenuous, insisting that her true beliefs align with more radical policies.

“She wants open borders. She wants to defund the police. She’s always wanted that. Now she’s trying to change her tune, but people aren’t buying it,” Trump said. “She was the border czar, and she did nothing. Millions have crossed the border, and crime is skyrocketing. She can’t escape her record.”

Reflecting on Harris’s past performance as a candidate, Trump suggested that her history of failure in the 2020 Democratic primaries—where she was one of the first to drop out—does not bode well for her 2024 prospects. He also criticized President Joe Biden for choosing Harris as his running mate despite her harsh attacks on him during the primaries.

“I was shocked when Biden picked her,” Trump said. “She was the nastiest to him, and yet he chose her. The people didn’t like her then, and they don’t like her now.”

In conclusion, Trump argued that Harris will need to publicly address her flip-flops if she hopes to gain the trust of voters. He suggested that her initial positions, no matter how extreme, likely reflect her true beliefs, and that her attempts to walk them back are unconvincing.

“She’s going to have to explain herself,” Trump said. “Why did she support these radical policies, and why is she changing now? People can see through it. She’s not fooling anyone.”
