The birthplace of Kolokotronis in the heart of Mainalo

In the heart of fir-covered Mainalo and in a quiet corner of mountainous Arcadia, where the only sounds you hear are the rustling of the firs and the waters of the river that flows from Arkoudorema, is one of the most historic and glorious villages in the whole country.

The beautiful, picturesque and tiny Limbovisi, is now abandoned, but its history is so glorious that it does not let it be forgotten.

It is the birthplace of the ruthless generation of the Kolokotronians and the village of the liberator of the Greek race, Theodoros Kolokotronis, with his father's house as one of its most famous sights. Fully renovated, it functions as a museum of the family and the struggle of the 1821 Revolution, while being full of heirlooms.

It is a building right next to Kolokotronis' old father’s house, which is a copy of a traditional Kolokotronian house. One of the sights of the village is also the restored church of Agios Ioannis, which was a spiritual refuge of the Elder of Moria(the way Kolokotronis was called).

The village is characterized by the stone-paved streets, the springs in the central square and the view of Mainalo and the sacred Arkoudorema, the refuge of the Bear of the Arcadians.
