Gerakas Laconia: The unknown impressive fjord of Greece
It is unknown to many until today, but when they discover it, they are impressed by the sight. It is the fjord of the Peloponnese, where the small village of Gerakas is located.
It is located on the east coast of the prefecture of Laconia and although it is only 22 km away from the popular Monemvasia, not many people know it. Gerakas has tranquility and authentic beauty, but also a picturesque harbor protected from the winds.
In Byzantine times it was called "Hierax" and was the naval station of the Byzantines to fight the Saracens. The port of Gerakas is also mentioned by Pausanias.
