The tiny white chapel of Saint Nikolas, carved into a vertical rock
The tiny chapel of Agios Nikolaos is carved into the center of a vertical, imposing rock on Mount Amaderos, east of Vonitsa.
The chapel, according to local tradition, was created following the "wish" of the icon of Agios Nikolaos since it had been observed that it "left" the chapel of Koukoumitsa, where it had its oldest location and ended in a small cave on the slopes of Amaderos.
Because of the frequency of the incident, the people of Vonitsa turned this small cave into a chapel, which they dedicated to Agios Nikolaos. By closing the outside of the cave with one of the walls of the small church, this particular church was created, the sight of which inspires awe and admiration among visitors to the area.
