Milos Town / Plaka
Plaka is the island's capital. It is built on a hill 220m. above the bay of Adamantas. The village, with the typical island architecture and narrow cobbled streets, is one of the most picturesque of the Cyclades. There are many hotels and apartments In Plaka. The tourist infrastructure of the region covers the needs of every visitor, both in terms of accommodation and entertainment. There is a Venetian castle built in the 13th century with a magnificent view of the sunset in the area. Other area attractions are the Church of the Virgin Korfiatissa and the archaeological museum of the island, which has a replica of the Venue de Milo among its exhibits. Close to Plaka there are many small beaches but the ones that stand out are the picturesque Firopotamos harbor and the sandy beach at Plathiena on the north side of town.
